Icon Reproductions

Icons are part of the Church's preaching and part of the Church's prayer. The true iconographer prepares for the work of handcrafting icon art with prayer, fasting and study. The Church must be able to own and venerate the image the iconographer produces. The icon must be truth. The production of icons is a mode of prayer; they come from prayer to be used in prayer and worship.

Icons have an important role in the decoration of church buildings, in the church's worship and in personal devotion. They play several roles: Icons teach: they represent sacred persons, sacred events, they show us the reality of the Divine Kingdom. They teach history, doctrine, morality and theology. They remind us what we are and what we should be. They show us the importance of matter and of material things. They show us the transfiguration of matter under the power of the Holy Spirit. Icons challenge: we see the saints, transfigured by God's grace and by their own free response to Him.

St. Theodosia's Icon Shop is the fulfillment of my search for a vocation and a childhood dream of managing my own business, which had its beginnings on my apartment kitchen counter in the early 1990's. The business is named after a saint whose convent of women became martyrs for their loyalty to icon veneration.

Having just joined the Church, I had spent many Sundays at the Holy Transfiguration Monastery, north of Ukiah, California, and wanted some way to spread the Catholic Faith. It was then that I fully discovered my passion for Icon art. In the ensuring years, my work caught the eyes of Tom and Joanne Peters, who kindly agreed to feature it on their website. These lovely sacramentals have found their way to countries from the Philippines to Alaska, from Canada to Poland, to Russia and Romania and along both U.S. coastlines.

"Now that the only begotten Son has purposed to become man, He has become a sharer in our flesh and blood. That is why we portray in art form His human features."

Treasure of Truth and Beauty April 2014

This icon art is handcrafted using a print of a famous Christian painting, venerated for many centuries. Miracles have been associated with this image. Accompanying the art are several explanatory texts. Because Catholics have a long history of displaying art in their homes, the result is more than an image, it is a gift of lasting Truth and Beauty.

My Mission of Faith is accomplished! Over 20 years ago, I perfected the hand-crafting technique seen in this icon art. Each one is handcrafted in St. Louis, MO.

My Mission is a labor of faith and love. I love what I do and pray for you. Hopefully, you share this same love for icon art. Please consider a purchase of icon art for yourself or persons you love.
