Catholic Rosaries

Praying the rosary is among the most hated and loved for Catholic traditions. Primarily it is a way to understand the great events of the life of Jesus through Mary's eyes. But many who found the rosary boring as children come to love it as adults. The word for Mother in one African language means "she who hears when I call." There are many different ways of praying the rosary. Some love to ponder at length each of the 5 joyful, sorrowful, luminous and glorious mysteries. Others prefer simply praying the Our Father, Hail Marys and Glory Be's quickly as a kind of song of the soul. Some like to link up to each mystery a similar personal experience of each day. For example, at the Mystery of the Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth one could think about which friend do I run to when I have great news. Or, when praying the 5th Sorrowful Mystery, the crucifixion you could think of terrible sufferings in your life. Do I fight or flee or, instead, like Mary stand under the Cross and just feel the pain.
